Your privacy
Litt’s does not disclose buyer’s information to third parties. Cookies are used to keep track of the content of your shopping basket and expire at the end of your session.
Exporting guns
Litt’s has been exporting firearms and accessories across the world since 1979. In order to export to overseas buyers we need to obtain a UK Export License. For this, you will need to supply us with a copy of your local Import Permit and a declaration that the goods are for sporting purposes only. Once we have secured the Export Licence we shall advise on the most suitable means of delivery to you. If you are purchasing from outside Europe, your purchase will be free of UK tax.
Importing guns
To enter the UK with a firearm, you must be in possession of the appropriate permit (see Certificates below). Failure to produce a valid permit will result in your firearm being seized by Customs at the port of entry. Litt’s can advise on all aspects of importing firearms, help you obtain the relevant permit – and collect your firearm from customs and store it until your permit is acquired or re-export is arranged.
Certificates
Firearm Certificate
A Firearms Certificate is issued to UK residents and covers rifles and handguns. The Certificate will list the firearm(s) possessed, those allowed to be purchased or acquired and the quantity of ammunition that may be held, purchased or acquired. Limitations may apply on exactly where the firearm(s) may be used This Certificate will not entitle the holder to purchase automatic, semi-automatic (other than .22 rimfire) or pump-action (other than .22 rimfire) rifles. Handguns are now effectively banned.
Shotgun Certificate
A Shot Certificate will show the names and serial numbers of any shotguns possessed. There are currently no restrictions on the acquisition of shotguns, providing details of transactions are noted on the certificate and the issuing police force is informed. The certificate must be produced when purchasing cartridges. For the purposes of the certificate, a shotgun is defined as a smoothbore gun with barrel(s) at least 24” (610mm) long. Semi-automatics must have a magazine capacity of no more than two shots. This must be a permanent restriction verified by either of the London or Birmingham Proof Houses.
Visitor’s Firearm Permit
The Visitor’s Firearm Permit will show the make and serial number of any firearm that a visitor to Britain is permitted to bring into the UK or borrow whilst here. This Certificate does not entitle the holder to purchase a firearm but ammunition may be acquired upon production of the permit. The Visitor’s Firearm Permit is subject to the same limitations on the type of firearm that may be held and restrictions on where it may be used as the resident’s Firearm Certificate.
Visitor’s Shotgun Permit
The Visitor’s Shotgun Permit lists any shotgun that a visitor may bring into the UK. These shotguns are as defined for the UK Shotgun Certificate - meaning that semi-automatics (unless previously brought into the UK and approved by the Proof House) are extremely unlikely to qualify. Visitors wishing to purchase or acquire a shotgun or cartridges in the UK must first obtain the “authority to purchase” stamp on their Certificate from the issuing police force.
